Cassadee Pope from the rock-pop band Hey Monday is slowly rising to become one of the few well-known lead vocal girls today. Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy who calls her “my little sister” helped the band get on MTV charts. They we’re signed onto Columbia Records before Pete Wentz added them to his record label, Decaydance Records. Their single “Homecoming” is streaming on radio stations across the country. The band was born in Florida however it came to my attention that the bass player lives down the street from me in New Jersey. What a small world. I saw them play live back in November at Starland Ballroom in New Jersey. They we’re opening for The Academy Is… and We The Kings on the Bill and Trav’s Bogus Journey Tour. I met her for the first time before doors opened. This tiny young 19-year-old girl jumped out of the van with flip-flops on in the brisk November weather. She was all smiles when she saw fans flocking to her side. Hearing other fans talk about her on the internet and at shows, they either like her or hate her. Yes, she is the cute teenager with “awesome hair” but that should never be a reason. She was nice and friendly to me so I couldn’t pick up anything terrible about her. Seeing her perform live later that night was amusing. Her voice did become very bland throughout the show but she is still a good performer. I had the chance to conduct a phone interview with her earlier this month. I think she could have explained herself more during the interview. Some of the struggles and hurdles that she had to face were creating a team, making it seem getting signed was pretty easy. It’s not easy, folks. She has a lot to learn while she is in the music business. Remember, she is still a teenager. Read the whole transcript of the interview below. They will be on tour this spring with Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship, All Time Low, and Metro Station on the Believers Never Die Part Deux Tour. Let’s see if they can keep up with these platinum rockstars.
