Alternative-rock band Valencia stopped by East Stroudsburg University’s 90.3 WESS to sit down and talk about their current and future plans. The band is currently signed to Columbia Records, a sub-division of Sony BMG Records. They have been on the road on their headlining tour with Houston Calls and Artist vs. Poet. They rolled into 90.3 WESS tired but eager to spread the word about their music. They all attended college; however it was hard to finish with the band. When I asked them about their sound, they couldn’t answer the question. They wanted someone else to answer that, so I did. Valencia’s music is very unique and has a strong alternative sound. The lyrics are creative and are easy to relate to. Death, relationships, and other personal problems spill out of their songs. The boys of Valencia have been through it all. Going to shows with only five people showing up, to sold out shows, and to being on stage at the Vans Warped Tour. They feed off their MySpace during their career. “It’s a digital age, we all know that music comes from the internet and we find majority of our fans there too,” says vocalist Shane Henderson. They want to write more albums and continue to grow in the future. Check out their music and I hope you see them on the road.
